Koutzen describes her background, how she first met Eugene Ormandy, her performances as soloist with Ormandy and the Philadelphia Orchestra, her relationship with Ormandy, his skill as an accompanist, his skill as a violinist, his technical advice to her concerning violin playing (especially the opening of the Beethoven concerto), and his later years. Koutzen offers opinions and anecdotes concerning other people, including Adrian Siegel, Serge Koussevitsky, Ferenc Fricsay, and Arturo Toscanini.
